In 1940 the Army adopted a new pattern of denim fatigue uniform. Large stocks of the previous 1919 pattern were still being issued, so both these patterns served side by side until they were eventually replaced by the 1942 pattern Olive Drab Herringbone Twill uniforms. This uniform was also issued extensively to the Civilian Conservation Corps, which did not cease operations until 1944.
